Murdered the treadmill!

I wrote this blog / email on 22.2.2008. Some numbers raise their head even when you don't know what they mean. And then somehow it all makes sense.

(Disclaimer: This is not Sports & Exercise Medicine doctor writing but a crazy runner... a damn crazy runner. Please do not try this at home, kids please keep a watch on your parents)

We Ran To Be Human

We Ran To Be Human

We human beings ran as sperms to be born, and contrary to what most of us have been made to believe, new scientific evidence shows that it isn’t a race. It is a synchronised run to the egg where all of the millions of sperms have very specific roles. All of them move. Being lazy is never an option.

Confusion about running in air-pollution?

Recently air quality in Delhi was really bad. Around the corner was the most iconic running event of North India. Even now its the best that it's been in last 45 days but is still poor. Here is a 60 second presentation that'll help you think even more. About more.

Runners in the eye of ‘air pollution’ storm

Air Pollution could be a blessing in disguise. Along with rights come duties. We runners are in the eye of the 'air-pollution' storm. Lets act more responsibly than we possibly have ever done. We would have changed the future for ourselves and our loved ones.

Pacing in Racing

Pacing is very important. Just that most never learn how to do it. If you get it right, you’ve really cracked what most haven’t been able to. You'll become a far better runner.

Air Pollution and running

The running season is on but air quality in Delhi NCR is being said to be 'very unhealthy' to exert outdoors. Should you be exercising and running out doors? What about all those masks people are running around in?

Running: Losing My Religion

Running: Losing My Religion

I've firmly believed that running gives you an even playing ground, which strips all of their social status and financial standing. It brings to surface the true character of the individual. It's because of that it's given me the best of friends and introduced me to some awesome folks out there.

4hr Full & 2hr Half Marathon plan: WEEK 22

This is a 4hr full and 2hr half marathon plan for a marathon in 3 weeks time. This week the intent is to do the last long run. At all times remember to stay soft on your feet and try to keep your running as effortless as you possibly can.

4 hr full & 2 hr half marathon plan: week 21

This is week 21 of a 4hr full and 2hr half marathon plan. No, it's not supposed to be easy. I'll push you hard to get to your time but remember that you aren't a product of an assembly line and you aren't in a rat race. At the end of the day if you aren't smiling and miling at the same time, you are missing out on something big.

Week 19 Full Marathon Plan: Sub 4hr

Majority of humans are capable of doing a marathon in under 4 hrs, just that they don't believe they can. Start with wanting to. Soon you will.

This is a sub 4 hr full marathon training plan targeting New Delhi Marathon (NDM) which is on 26th Feb. This plan is really for those who’ve managed to do half marathon in last couple of months in under 2 hours and full marathon distance in last few weeks in sub 4 hours 15 min.

Last week (18) plan before Mumbai Marathon

Mumbai marathon is only 4-5 days away now. You need to take it very easy during these few days before the race. Even if you are not doing it and training for New Delhi Marathon, which is in 7 weeks time, take this week easy.

What you can very easily do in the last week before the marathon in your eagerness to train, is injure yourself. If you haven’t trained enough, please don’t risk a permanent injury. It might be better not to run. Think long term, not just about this one race.

Full Marathon Training Plan: Week 17

I am of a firm opinion that anyone who is able bodied and is remotely fit, is capable of running a full marathon in under 4 hrs, of course with appropriate training. 85 year old Ed Whitlock recently did the distance in 3hrs 56min 39sec.

Be Selfish, Save Everyone

I agree with the statement but I don’t think it’s demeaning at all. If there was no ‘i’, there would be no ‘A-hole’. A lot of crap would be coming through the wrong orifice, which is a very common occurrence in today's self-righteous world. It’s a tough job for that ‘i’ person who sticks out and does all the dirty job for others.

Stretching HAMSTRINGS the right way

Stretching HAMSTRINGS the right way

Most people think they are stretching their hamstrings when they have their legs up at a higher platform and are trying to touch their toes or some such thing. They do it only because the guy or gal next to them is doing the same. Stop copy. Think logically. That stretch is excellent at causing pain in the back and down the leg that you didn't have before.

Are you stretching ITB (Ilio-Tibial Band)?

Are you stretching ITB (Ilio-Tibial Band)?

Are you still stretching your ITB (Ilio-Tibial Band) till the cows and the rest come home? Just to burst your bubble, they don't really stretch much.

A tweet today morning reminded me that there is a good reason that I have not been telling folks to stretch their ITB (Ilio-Tibial Band).
