Get Off Your Arse: A ran-dumb blog to get you moving, by a bit of a nudge and a bit of a push.
Murdered the treadmill!
I wrote this blog / email on 22.2.2008. Some numbers raise their head even when you don't know what they mean. And then somehow it all makes sense.
(Disclaimer: This is not Sports & Exercise Medicine doctor writing but a crazy runner... a damn crazy runner. Please do not try this at home, kids please keep a watch on your parents)
We Ran To Be Human
We human beings ran as sperms to be born, and contrary to what most of us have been made to believe, new scientific evidence shows that it isn’t a race. It is a synchronised run to the egg where all of the millions of sperms have very specific roles. All of them move. Being lazy is never an option.
If you are good at something
You’ve got to respect yourself. Only then will you respect the person sitting across the table who you are trying to help.
Confusion about running in air-pollution?
Recently air quality in Delhi was really bad. Around the corner was the most iconic running event of North India. Even now its the best that it's been in last 45 days but is still poor. Here is a 60 second presentation that'll help you think even more. About more.
Find your rock
I got 44 out of 100 in English Grammar in class 8th. I was given 11 grace marks in Biology in class 11th. I have now been contributing for India's best newspaper, Mint, besides other newspapers. I was invited to write a book on Pain by Penguin Publications. This all happened because I found my rock. You need to find yours. Ignore all the quick sand around.
Runners in the eye of ‘air pollution’ storm
Air Pollution could be a blessing in disguise. Along with rights come duties. We runners are in the eye of the 'air-pollution' storm. Lets act more responsibly than we possibly have ever done. We would have changed the future for ourselves and our loved ones.
One-up-manship
In this life, courtesy the society we live in, we all are trained for one-up-manship of all kinds. I’m a better human being than you, I care more for this world than you, I love you more than you love me, I’m more humble than you etc. Alan Watts in his amazing lecture takes it to the next level.
Pacing in Racing
Pacing is very important. Just that most never learn how to do it. If you get it right, you’ve really cracked what most haven’t been able to. You'll become a far better runner.
Proud Parent
People normally are proud of their kids once they get 99 % etc or get into some top University. Children are normally treated by parents like trophies. I’m proud of mine for being themselves even if it means going against what is thrown at them like Asthma, bullying etc. Viren (11yrs) came third in inter-school athletics Meet in 1,500 metres clocking in at 6min 11seconds. Harsheath (16yrs) just ran his third half marathon in approximately 2hrs 10min. A lot more than I had done by those ages.
