2018 CBSE results show that enormous number of students have scored above 90%. Good for them for having worked so hard. But are we giving them a false sense of over-achievement, soon followed by sense-of-entitlement. If they think there is no room for improvement, they stop improving.
Failure is the biggest teacher. It is inevitable you are going to face it in life. How you tackle being in the dumps and then bouncing back is what shows your true character.
Smith & Warner no doubt are great players but they were reported for ball tampering also in 2016 during a domestic match by their own umpires to their own referee. Winning at any cost is a very sad precedence being set in all sports by the role models in sports today.
I got 44 out of 100 in English Grammar in class 8th. I was given 11 grace marks in Biology in class 11th. I have now been contributing for India's best newspaper, Mint, besides other newspapers. I was invited to write a book on Pain by Penguin Publications. This all happened because I found my rock. You need to find yours. Ignore all the quick sand around.
People normally are proud of their kids once they get 99 % etc or get into some top University. Children are normally treated by parents like trophies. I’m proud of mine for being themselves even if it means going against what is thrown at them like Asthma, bullying etc. Viren (11yrs) came third in inter-school athletics Meet in 1,500 metres clocking in at 6min 11seconds. Harsheath (16yrs) just ran his third half marathon in approximately 2hrs 10min. A lot more than I had done by those ages.
I agree with the statement but I don’t think it’s demeaning at all. If there was no ‘i’, there would be no ‘A-hole’. A lot of crap would be coming through the wrong orifice, which is a very common occurrence in today's self-righteous world. It’s a tough job for that ‘i’ person who sticks out and does all the dirty job for others.
In madness, I thought I was the most important person in the world. - John Forbes Nash Jr.
There are enough people out there, actually, almost everyone, who are betting against you. They don’t think you can ever succeed in anything in life. But there is only one person out there who should never, ever, give up on you and that’s YOU!
For time immemorial, we humans have given too much self-importance but also have accepted our ‘fate’ when it comes to the following question: ‘Who knows what the future holds?’
It’s simply the wrong question. It should be more on the lines of ‘Who holds the future?’
And do you know who does? You do.
