Arvind’s Run & Bee experience

Completed my Half Marathon today as my final run of Run & Bee Camp #3.

Here is the summary

lt was a strong finish without any injury or pain. Moreover l improved my timing by 20 minutes as compared to the HM l ran 6 weeks back.

Here is my detailed reflexion on today's race

Plan was to go with 19min run + 1min walk. l could follow it for first 40 minutes, then switched to 10+1 for next 45 minutes. After that l switched to 1km run + 100m walk. Finally in last 3km it was 500m run +50m walk. With this continuously changing strategy l could maintain 7:30 pace throught the run.

Achievement

(1) Around 20min in HM time as compared to my last HM on 29/Nov (ADHM vurtual race). Although its not my PB.

(2) ln HM races, l used to struggle a lot in the last 5km due to severe calf muscle cramp. lt didn't happen today. My body supported well today.

Areas for improvement

(1) Breathlessness is certainly one area l have to work on. lt was the main reason of continuously changing run-walk straregy.

(2) Long slow runs (2+ hours) during practice/training is critical for race. l missed it in previous weekend.

(3) l realised the importance of exercises (mobility & strength) and running drill to improve overall running performance. Moving forward, l need to give sufficient focus on to it.

(4) Weight reduction. Today l put on 5kg extra (courtesy corona/lockdown/work-from-home) as compared to my weight at PB run in 2018.
